Former Hart High pitcher Zachary Hanks has officially committed to play baseball at New Mexico State University next season. The senior will receive a scholarship to play for the college.
Hanks, a senior at Hart, showed his potential last season as a junior, finishing 1-6 with a 3.24 ERA in 45 1/3 innings pitched for Hart.
He is not playing baseball for the school this season due to the fact that he was removed from the team in November after violating team rules. Two other starters on the team were also removed at the time.
New Mexico State competes in the Western Athletic Conference within NCAA Division I. Last year, NMSU won the WAC. The team is 23-18 this season with a 4-2 mark so far in conference play.
